A main highlight of the Minster weekend was the presence of Robby Swift, who blessed us with his tempory return to his homeground having flown back to the UK all the way from Maui. An inspiration to many.. Saturday morning brought to us plenty of wind (although a little inconsistant) resulting in a number of races being completed. With over 30 entries, including those from wet&dry's hometown and local club members, made way for a great atmosphere. JP Pryde demo kit was on hand along the beach for all those that wished to take to the seas. And judging by the number of sailors queuing along the waters edge calling out at others, and waving profusley to bring kit in so they could have a go, proved this was another great highlight of the weekend. Prizes were presented to all the new sailors that entered into the event, so smiles all round. A very close call in the positions of their races saw top flight sailors gunning for the finish mark. A very pleased Robby Swift took 1st place, with Jamie Hawkins taking 2nd, and Xavier Ferlet coming in 3rd. Challenge fleet and the juniors put their hearts and souls into battling against the on off winds to complete the courses which saw Nick Pinkney being pipped at the post with 4th position, Minsters Liam Jackson gaining 3rd junior and Dave Wareing departing with a 1st place master's trophy. Well done all of you. Our gratitude goes out to Sarah Lane who was asked to become a boat crew member for the day, an experience she said she would like to partake in. (However, some 6 hours later, Miss Lane was a little flustered and was seen making a mighty dash to the loo's). Bless. The Playa done us proud yet again, with the fantastic spread they put on for us including the awesome voice of Deedee for the evenings entertainment. Our thanks go out to all the Eddie's and their staff. Sunday saw the wind disappear, very hot sunshine appear, and a few nursed sore heads. Technique clinics were set up and presented by Robbie Swift, Jamie Hawkins and Xavier Ferlet which were most valuable to those spectating and absorbing all the useful tips and information. Thanks to Ian and Rich Jones, Dave and Sarah for staying behind and helping with the towing and driving of vehicles. Please click on the forum to see the post of thanks to all that were involved in making this event happen.
